Butterfly Sanctuaries You Should Visit In Costa Rica 

Costa Rica is a country known for its biodiversity, it is important to know that this country hosts 1500 species of butterflies, almost 90% of all species of Central America and 16% of the total world population. For this reason, it is very easy to find different species of butterflies anywhere in Costa Rica, from the mountains, the beach and even the cities.

The most attractive species you will find are Morpho Menelau, Caligo, Papilio Cresphontes, Greta Oto, Monarch Butterfly, Heliconius Sara, among many others.

If you want to know more about these and more species you can not miss visiting the famous butterfly sanctuaries that offer some tourist destinations.

Some of the most famous butterfly sanctuaries are Butterfly Kingdom, Spirogyra, La Casa de la Morpho Azul, Metamorphosis, El Cocora, Mariposas Sarchí, Alas Del Destino and Montezuma Gardens. 

You can also find butterflies in hotels or parks such La Paz Waterfall Gardens, in which you’ll find a laboratory and butterfly park, where they house about 25 species of butterflies, were approximately 4000 butterflies fly. This laboratory/butterfly sanctuary is an excellent option for those who want to learn more about butterfly life and their life stages.
