The House of Stone is located at The Diamante Falls (Diamond Waterfalls), in a beautiful and unique region of Costa Rica, 40 mins inland from Dominical beach on the Pacific coast. This jewel of the jungle cascades down the face of the Tinamastes Ridge above a valley called Las Tumbas, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. The Diamante River flows straight through the heart of this valley.
Several kilometers below Diamante’s natural water source, midway down 1200 feet of cascading waterfalls, you will find the Cave or, as the locals call it, “La Casa de Piedra” (The House of Stone). This open-air cavern is set behind twin waterfalls and features a fully functional kitchen and comfortable sleeping area. On your way to “Casa de Piedra,” you will experience a 1.5-2-hour hike through the pristine rainforest. The steep winding trails and spectacular pacific coastal views will invigorate your sense of adventure.
The cave, tucked behind 85-foot twin waterfalls, sits in the heart of a primary-growth forest with an abundance of tropical plants and wildlife. It is here where you will have the opportunity to rest, explore the Cave and surrounding areas and enjoy freshly prepared vegetarian meals. Activities while on the tour include hiking to natural swimming pools, cliff jumping, rappelling (should you choose to try it), and hikes to viewpoints with your guide. If you choose the overnight tour, at the end of the day you will fall asleep in comfort, surrounded by the sights and sounds of Mother Nature at her finest. Whatever your needs, Diamante Falls and Casa de Piedra will provide a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experience!
